Current CEO Jen Daloisio steps down after overseeing the establishment of the organization’s workforce equity programming and awarding over $276 million to the clean tech sector.
Healey-Driscoll Administration appoints Reichert, the founder of Greentown Labs, the largest climatetech startup incubator in North America.
BOSTON – Healey-Driscoll Administration announced today the appointment of Emily Reichert as the new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC). Current CEO Jennifer Daloisio will be stepping down effective October 31, 2023, after nearly ten years at MassCEC. Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) Secretary Tepper serves as Chair of the MassCEC Board, which accepted Daloisio’s resignation, and appointed Reichert, effective November 6, 2023. For nearly a decade, Reichert served as CEO of Greentown Labs, the largest climatetech startup incubator in North America. MassCEC funds climate innovation, including investing in clean technology companies, workforce development, and offshore wind infrastructure.
“The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center is the lynchpin of our technology economy, and our administration is committed to its growth,” said Governor Maura Healey. “MassCEC has seen tremendous growth in recent years thanks to the bold leadership of Jen Daloisio, and we are thrilled for its next chapter under Emily Reichert. Emily is a serious startup trailblazer with strong relationships with the companies driving this transition. She shares our belief that addressing the climate crisis is a tremendous economic opportunity for our state. Massachusetts will be a global hub for clean technology companies, and we know that Emily will ensure we continue moving forward equitably and strategically.”
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jen Daloisio for many years as we transformed Salem into a key player in the offshore wind industry. She has been an incredible partner and visionary for MassCEC, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter,” said Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll. “We are excited to welcome Emily Reichert to our team. Her appointment is yet another example of the brilliant clean technology minds here in Massachusetts.
“MassCEC sits at the center of our clean energy transition. The next CEO will oversee critical programming to grow our workforce, invest in clean technologies, decarbonize our economy, and manage vital offshore wind infrastructure,” said Secretary Tepper. “I’m so grateful for Jen Daloisio. Jen has grown MassCEC’s team and positioned our state as a global leader in clean energy. Emily Reichert has spent the past decade starting, growing, and retaining climate technology companies in Massachusetts as CEO of Greentown Labs, and I know she will bring that vision to MassCEC.
“I’m grateful to Governor Healey, Lieutenant Governor Driscoll, and Secretary Tepper for placing their faith in me, and for Jen for her decade of leadership at MassCEC,” said Reichert. “I’ve been lucky to work with some of the most innovative entrepreneurs in climate and clean technology in the world, helping them launch their companies from the Greentown Labs offices. Now, I’m looking forward to bringing that same scrappy startup energy to Massachusetts’ entire clean energy industry.”
“I am incredibly proud and grateful to have led MassCEC for the past two years, and to have served the previous seven years as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer,” said Daloisio. "Working to achieve the Commonwealth's ambitious climate goals through programs that fuel innovation, develop the market, and focus on building a diverse workforce has been incredibly rewarding. MassCEC has a fantastic team and is well-positioned to lead our efforts in clean energy and climatetech. I look forward to seeing future success under Emily's leadership.
About Dr. Emily Reichert
Dr. Emily Reichert served as CEO of Greentown Labs, the largest climatetech startup incubator in North America, for nearly a decade. As the organization’s first employee and Chief Executive Officer, Emily spearheaded the rapid growth of Greentown Labs into a global center for climate technology innovation, based in Somerville, Massachusetts.
