The Challenge: Help Communities Evaluate the Potential for Networked Geothermal
Networked geothermal offers a clean, renewable, non-combusting way to heat and cool our homes and businesses. However, this technology is relatively novel to Massachusetts and outreach and assistance is needed for communities to conduct feasibility assessments, as well as foster engagement.
About Kickstart Massachusetts
Supported by funding from MassCEC, the Home Energy Efficiency Team (HEET) is offering grants of up to $50K for 10-12 communities to assess potential sites for networked geothermal projects. This program seeks to develop a pipeline of shovel-ready network geothermal projects in Massachusetts, both to support the scaling of this extremely promising pathway to decarbonization, and to help the selected communities access further funding opportunities. The Kickstart Mass program will also help foster community engagement and education around the benefits of networked geothermal and how these systems work in homes and businesses.
